About GasPriceUSA

Daily gas price data for all 50 states

Our Mission

GasPriceUSA was built to provide consumers, researchers, and businesses with fast, reliable, and up-to-date fuel price information across the United States. We believe that transparent access to gas price data helps people make informed decisions about travel, budgeting, and energy usage.

How It Works

Our data is sourced daily from the American Automobile Association (AAA) National Average Gas Prices dataset, which aggregates prices from over 130,000 gas stations nationwide. Every morning, we process this data and regenerate our site to reflect the latest prices.

We display average prices for four fuel grades — Regular, Midgrade, Premium, and Diesel — across all 50 states and over 450 cities and metropolitan areas.

Why We Built This

While gas price data is widely available, we found that most existing tools fell short in one or more ways:

  • Outdated information published days or weeks late
  • Cluttered interfaces with intrusive ads and slow load times
  • Limited coverage — only showing national averages or a handful of states
  • No city-level granularity for local pricing

GasPriceUSA solves these problems with a fast, statically-generated site that loads instantly, covers all 50 states and 450+ metro areas, and updates every single day.

Our Values

  • Accuracy — Data is sourced from AAA's trusted fuel gauge survey
  • Simplicity — Clean, distraction-free interface focused on the data
  • Speed — Static site generation for instant page loads worldwide
  • Accessibility — Free access for everyone, no accounts or paywalls

Technology

GasPriceUSA is built with Astro and Tailwind CSS v4, deployed on Cloudflare Pages. Our data pipeline uses Python to scrape and process daily AAA fuel reports, producing static JSON files that are compiled into the site at build time. Interactive data visualizations are powered by D3.js.
